Privacy Policy

Last updated: 06/07/2026

This Privacy Policy explains how Hibernian Workshop ("we", "us", "our") collects, uses, shares, and retains personal data. It covers:

  • our video games, including Astral Ascent and Fallen Fates (the "Games"), across all platforms on which we distribute them; and
  • our crowdfunding activities, including our Kickstarter campaign and the fulfilment of associated rewards.

This policy describes only our own data practices. Each store, platform, or service through which you obtain, play, or support our Games (such as the Epic Games Store, Steam, console platforms, or Kickstarter) operates under its own separate privacy policy governing the relationship between that service and its users.

1. Who we are

Hibernian Workshop
12 Avenue du Général de Gaulle, 16800 Soyaux
Data protection contact: hiberniangames@gmail.com

If you have any question about this policy or wish to exercise your rights over your data, contact us at the email address above.

2. What data we collect and why

We aim to collect as little personal data as possible. We collect the following:

a) Crash and diagnostic reports (in-game)

When a Game crashes or encounters a serious error, we may collect a crash report to help us fix bugs and improve stability. A crash report may include: technical information about the crash, the state of the Game at the time, your operating system and hardware configuration, and a device or session identifier.

  • Purpose: diagnosing and fixing technical problems.
  • Legal basis (GDPR): our legitimate interest in maintaining and improving the Games.
  • Processor: these reports are transmitted to store platforms, which processes them on our behalf.

b) Cloud save data (in-game)

A Game may synchronise your save data (your progress, settings, and in-game choices) so it can be restored across sessions or devices.

  • Purpose: preserving and restoring your game progress.
  • Legal basis (GDPR): performance of our service to you.
  • How it works: cloud save is provided through the platform you play on (for example Epic Cloud or Steam Cloud). The save data is stored by that platform under its own terms and privacy policy. We access it only to deliver the save/restore feature.

c) Crowdfunding and reward fulfilment (Kickstarter backers)

If you backed one of our crowdfunding campaigns, we collect the information needed to deliver your rewards and communicate with you about them. This may include: your name, username/pseudonym, email address, postal/shipping address, country, pledge amount and reward tier, and any details you provided in backer surveys (such as a preferred size for physical items or a personalised message).

  • Purpose: delivering the rewards you pledged for, providing campaign updates, and answering your requests.
  • Legal basis (GDPR): performance of our contract with you (fulfilling your rewards). Where we send optional marketing communications, we rely on your consent, which you may withdraw at any time.
  • Source: this information is collected through Kickstarter and its backer survey tools (for example BackerKit or Kickstarter surveys), which act as their own controllers and/or as processors for reward-related data.

We do not collect payment card details ourselves: pledges and in-store purchases are handled entirely by Kickstarter, not by us.

3. Who we share data with

We do not sell your personal data. We share data only with:

  • Service providers acting on our behalf — for example our crash-reporting provider (section 2a), our crowdfunding survey tool, and shipping/logistics partners used to deliver physical rewards (section 2c) — bound to process data only per our instructions.
  • Platforms that host cloud saves or crowdfunding pledges, to the extent needed to provide those features.
  • Authorities, where we are legally required to do so.

4. Data retention

  • Crash reports are retained for 12 months, after which they are deleted or anonymised.
  • Cloud save data is retained by the relevant platform according to its own policy, and by us only for as long as needed to provide the save feature.
  • Crowdfunding and reward data (name, address, survey responses, etc.) is retained for as long as necessary to fulfil your rewards and to meet our legal, accounting, and tax obligations, after which it is deleted or anonymised. Shipping addresses are deleted once rewards have been delivered and any related obligations have lapsed.

5. Your rights and how to exercise them

Depending on where you live (including under the EU/UK GDPR), you may have the right to:

  • Access the personal data we hold about you.
  • Correct inaccurate data.
  • Delete your data ("right to erasure").
  • Object to or restrict certain processing.
  • Data portability.
  • Withdraw consent at any time, where processing is based on consent (e.g. marketing emails).

To exercise any of these rights, contact us at hiberniangames@gmail.com. We will respond within the timeframe required by applicable law. For cloud save data stored by a platform, you can also manage or delete it directly through that platform's account settings.

You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority. In France, this is the CNIL (www.cnil.fr).

6. Children's privacy

Our Games are intended for a general audience and are not directed at young children. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children below the age of digital consent. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, contact us and we will delete it.

7. International transfers

Some of our service providers may process data outside your country of residence. Where this occurs, we rely on appropriate safeguards (such as the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses) to protect your data.

8. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we will change the "Last updated" date above and, where appropriate, provide additional notice.
